Flowers in the Garden

Feels good to be back home in time for Diwali. And more so as its my first Diwali at home in 4 years. As is the norm during festivals in India, there's a lot of frenzy activity as everyone gears up for the decorations, pujas and the Diwali night. Thought will post some pictures of flowers from the garden.

Flowers in the Garden

There are still some who have never learnt to see the beauty of flowers. They are unable to appreciate this beautiful gift of nature. In his poem "Flowers", Edwin Curran writes

Flowers are the music of the ground
From earth's lips spoken without sound.

Flowers in the Garden

Flowers have been a source of inspiration to people from all walks of life, whether a florist, a gardener, a painter, a photographer or a writer, all can draw inspiration from flowers. There's nothing like a walk in the garden to lift up sagging spirits. It lightens the heart, brings a smile to the face and a twinkle to the eyes.

  1. Flowers, like music, can only be appreciated fully if we stop what we are doing, and let them speak to us.

    A great little post.

  3. Beautiful pictures. I'm not a photographer and I'm sure there may be a term for this, but I really like how you made the background blurred - it makes the flower the "star" of the picture. :)

  5. Thank you Krouth. This can be achieved with a shallow depth of focus which keeps the subject in focus and blurs the background.

  11. I love flowers because you can use all of yourself to be with them.I used to drink the nectar from some flowers but you shouldn't because of some insects and birds use them for food.

Flowers look pretty, taste yummy and feel good :)

    Great pictures, love the colours.

I am telling people that may be suffering from major illnesses, (as I am), to please check out this site. Hope you don't mind the linkback.

  18. Lovely! Sadly we're a bit short on flowers in my neck of the woods... very short season and then they're gone. Comes with the arid climate I guess!

  19. Sorry to hear that. But then I guess you probably have a great fall season.

  20. Nope, not really! None of our trees change colour or anything... just green. But the sunsets are to die for! Like this:
